A Super App: Taxi, Food & Grocery Delivery, and Digital Payments
A leading super app in the Maghreb region licensed the SDK.finance source code to speed up building the app’s core instead of developing it from scratch.
This case study shows how the company accelerated the development of its fintech infrastructure using SDK.finance, while keeping full ownership of its roadmap, codebase, and data.

A leading super app in the Maghreb region is transforming how daily services are delivered. Operating in over 45 cities across Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, with recent expansion into France, Canada, and Sub-Saharan Africa, the company is reshaping how people move, shop, and pay.
Today, it serves over 6 million users, offering a wide range of on-demand services, including ride-hailing, food delivery, grocery delivery, and digital payments. All within a single app.
Project Overview
Founded in 2017, a North Africa-focused startup began as the first ride-hailing service in Algeria, with the goal of simplifying everyday mobility. Between 2019 and 2021, it raised funding to support regional growth, including backing from Y Combinator. In 2022, the company opened a European tech hub to lead the development of a super app combining mobility, commerce, and financial services in one unified platform.
The Build vs. Buy Decision
Building a reliable fintech core, covering wallet management, transaction processing, payouts, and integrations with banks and payment providers, would have required a major investment of time and resources.
The internal team estimated that developing such a system from scratch could take up to 24 months, delaying their product launch and increasing opportunity costs.
To move faster and avoid rebuilding standard infrastructure, the company chose to license the source code of SDK.finance’s platform – a modular, pre-built transaction engine with over 500 APIs, designed explicitly for FinTech product development.

The result
With SDK.finance’s platform as the core, the ride-hailing app was able to:
- Save development time and costs using pre-built modules and APIs
- Launch financial services faster, without compromising product flexibility
- Build a multi-currency ledger to support cross-border expansion plans
- Integrate payment providers while maintaining the freedom to switch or replace them as needed
- Retain full data ownership and operational control by hosting the solution in-house
- Tailor business logic and integrations to fit regional market requirements and use cases
- Focus on business needs, rather than spending months rebuilding basic infrastructure from scratch.
